Dissertation Completion Scholarships to Support PhD Students

18 June, 2026

CERGE-EI has awarded the first Dissertation Completion Scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year to selected advanced PhD students preparing to complete their dissertations and enter the academic job market. The scholarships are made possible thanks to the generous support of Nadace CERGE-EI.

The scholarship is designed to support students at a crucial stage of their doctoral journey, helping them focus on finishing their research, preparing job market materials, and identifying academic or research positions that best match their interests, skills, and potential.

“The dissertation completion stage is one of the most challenging phases of doctoral training, requiring students to balance intensive research and writing with preparation for the academic job market,” says Marek Kapička, Director of CERGE-EI. “The Nadace CERGE-EI Dissertation Completion Scholarships address this challenge by providing outstanding PhD candidates with the stability and support they need to complete their dissertations and take the next step in their academic careers.”

Recipients were selected based on their academic promise, dissertation progress, and job market potential. Through this support, CERGE-EI and Nadace CERGE-EI aim to help promising young researchers successfully complete this final stage of doctoral training and move toward academic and research careers.
