8 December, 2025

Ole Jann has been awarded the Jan Švejnar and Katherine Terrell Teaching Prize for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The prize recognizes outstanding teaching quality in the graduate economics program at CERGE-EI and is based on student evaluations of core graduate courses.

Ole Jann achieved an exceptional average evaluation score of 4.89 for Microeconomics III, reflecting his strong commitment to excellence in graduate teaching.

“Jan and Kathy wanted to publicly recognize the best teachers of economics at CERGE-EI, to emphasize to the faculty that the quality of graduate teaching is important, and to communicate to students that their evaluations are an essential part of the CERGE-EI mission,” Marek Kapička, CERGE-EI Director, noted in announcing the award.

The Jan Švejnar and Katherine Terrell Teaching Prize is awarded annually based on the average student rating in first- and second-year graduate courses with sufficient enrollment and response rates. The key criterion is the Overall Instructor Performance score, capturing students’ overall assessment of teaching quality.

CERGE-EI congratulates Ole Jann on this well-deserved recognition and thanks all students for their thoughtful feedback, which continues to play a vital role in maintaining and improving the quality of graduate education.
