Charles University Introduces Its New Rector

Effective February 1st 2014, Professor Tomáš Zima has assumed the position of rector of Charles University. He has been inaugurated on Tuesday March 4th 2014. CERGE-EI, as a joint workplace of Charles University and the Academy of Sciences, wishes all the best to the newly appointed rector.

Prof. Zima introduced his thoughts about the future development of the oldest Czech university, at a press conference, where he stressed the importance of modernization of educational programs and support for building top research centers.  

The university also aims to enhance cooperation between Prague universities and the Academy of Sciences.  Further, it will focus on increasing the quality and prestige of its education and research activities and on continuing to build the positive public image of CU in the Czech Republic and abroad. CU also aims to improve the internal and external communication of its activities.
