CERGE-EI Students Shined Again at The Young Economists of the Year Award

Five CERGE-EI students have succeeded at the annual Young Economist of the Year competition organized by The Czech Economic Society (CES).

The title Young Economist of the Year 2019 has been awarded to Vladimír Novák and Andrei Matveenko. They won the prize for their paper "The Status Quo and Belief Polarization of Inattentive Agents".

Filip Staněk has got the third place for his paper "Affine Weighting Scheme for Tests of Predictive Ability and Time-Series Cross-Validation".

Michal Šoltés and Klára Svitáková have won Karel Engliš Award for the best paper on Czech economic policy. Michal and Klára were nominated for their paper "Sorting of Candidates: Evidence from over 20,000 Electoral Ballots".

The Czech Economic Society (CES) is awarding the Young Economist of the Year Award to members of the Czech economics community who are no more than 30 years old. The award is supported by the Council of Scientific Societies of the Czech Republic.

CERGE-EI students are regularly among the laureates of the award that has been established in 1994.
