High School Students Try Research Work at CERGE-EI

17 December, 2019

The fourth season of CERGE-EI’s program for high schoolers has ended with the final presentations of five research projects taking place. Ivan Bejin, Adam Bok, Adéla Horáková, Anna Pánková and Vojtěch Ruda focused on the gender gap in Czech political representation and were chosen by the evaluation committee as this year’s winners.

Former CERGE Director Prof. Turnovec Has Passed Away

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Professor František Turnovec passed away on Tuesday, December 10. Professor Turnovec was an important Czech mathematical economist who joined then CERGE (at that time, CERGE and EI had separate directors) shortly after its foundation in 1993 and served as its director between 1994 – 1999.

Filip Matějka Awarded by the Czech Education Minister for Outstanding Research

CERGE-EI faculty Filip Matějka has been awarded the Minister of Education Youth and Sports Prize for outstanding results in social sciences research. Filip is one of the two Czech scientists who received the prize this year.
