EEAG Report on the European Economy

CERGE-EI invites you to a special presentation of a Report on the European Economy, provided by the EEAG (European Economic Advisory Group) at CESifo.

Please find speakers' presentations below. Recorded lecture will follow soon.

John Driffill: Power and People: Comments on the European Energy Market and Migration based on the 2015 EEAG Report

Jan-Egbert Sturm: Macroeconomic Outlook, European Energy Conundrum, European Regional Disparity, Migration in the European Union

Vilém Semerák: EEAG Report - Czech Perspective

The report analyses three issues crucial to strengthening the Eurozone and accelerating the European integration process:

  • the effect of national borders on energy markets, advocating a more unified approach to energy policies;
  • the re-emergence of borders as a significant determinant of regional economic development within Europe, calling for European policies that foster more regional integration;
  • managing migration flows, which have increased in the course of Eastern enlargement of the EU and, more recently, due to the precarious situation triggered by the crisis in some countries.

The report also contains a thorough macroeconomic analysis and outlook for the coming year.

Host:

  • Magdalena Souček (Managing Partner, EY)

Speakers:

  • Jan-Egbert Sturm (Director, KOF Swiss Economic Institute, ETH Zurich)
  • John Driffill (Birkbeck College, University of London)
