Štěpán Jurajda is a Full Professor and a Senior Researcher at CERGE-EI, with tenure under the US permanent charter. During 2009 to 2013, he served as Director of CERGE, Charles University, and of the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences (EI). He has been a member of the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI since 2004 and is also affiliated with the IZA@LISER network. He received his Ph.D. in Labor Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and was a post-doc at Princeton University. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Labour Economists, and chair of the Social Sciences and Humanities Committee at the Czech Science Foundation. He received the Gold Commemorative medal of Charles University and was granted the Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship at the European University Institute. He has also been a member of the National Economic Council of the Government of the Czech Republic, Vice-Chairman of the Research, Development and Innovation Council of the Government of the Czech Republic, and served as Deputy Minister for Science, Research and Innovation of the Czech Republic. His research appeared in leading journals, including the American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Econometrics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Demography, and PNAS.
