Achim joined CERGE-EI as an Assistant Professor in September 2025. Previously, he was a Senior Researcher at the Public Policy Group, ETH Zurich. He is also a Research Affiliate at the Immigration Policy Lab (ETH/Stanford). Achim holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD from Heriot-Watt University. Achim's empirical research focuses on migration and labor economics. He also has a strong interest in applied econometrics, causal inference, and machine learning. His work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Applied Econometrics, World Development, and Economics Letters.
