CERGE-EI Study Presented at the Ministry of Finance

19 June, 2019

Nikolas Mittag (CERGE-EI) introduced a study on using data for evaluating social policy programs at the Czech Ministry of Finance (MF). The seminar was a part of broader cooperation between the MF and the Czech Academy of Sciences. The key point of the seminar was the presentation of a study focused on smarter and more accurate use of administrative data.

"I am sure that the 21st century is our chance to have policies based on facts," said Nikolas Mittag during the seminar attended by representatives of the MF and the Czech Fiscal Council.

The presentation was based on a study entitled "Using linked survey and administrative data to better measure income: Implications for poverty, program effectiveness and holes in the safety net" coauthored by Nikolas Mittag and Bruce D. Meyer from the University of Chicago, which has been published in the prestigious scientific journal American Economic Journal: Applied Economics.
