The CCC Lecture Series: Professor Zrzavý

A new series of inter-disciplinary lectures organized by the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education - Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in cooperation with the Center for Theoretical Study (CTS). The two joint workplaces of Charles University and the Economics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences will feature prominent Czech scientists from fields related to economics.

The first lecture The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State 2.0  will be held by Professor Jan Zrzavý focusing on evolutionary biology.

Time: 25 October, 2019 at 16:30
Place: CERGE-EI, Politických vězňů 7, Prague 1, Room 6

Today's evolutionary approach in anthropology sees evolution not as a ladder but as a tree, all recent cultures as equally derived, none of them primitive, yet with an evolutionary history worth of research. Using current phylogenetic methods taken from biology, we can reconstruct a history of human population attributes that left no or almost no archeological traces, such as family structure, partner selection, intrafamilial relationship, etc. At a time when everyone tries to take care of the "protection of a traditional family”, this is a relevant political topic as well.

Lecture will be held in Czech only. Please register here.
