Data Visualization with Tableau

We will create insightful dashboards and visualizations in Tableau from the bottom up. This is a hands-on course on one of today’s job market increasingly important tools.

Prerequisites:

  • This course combines self-study from free Tableau video lectures with practice in the classroom. You are expected to cover selected lessons before coming to class.
  • To follow along, you need to install Tableau Public, or to get an academic license for Tableau Desktop (available for students for 1 year).

Lectures:

  • Visual analysis and perception. Tableau basics.
  • Manipulating data: filtering, sorting, joining. Parameters.
  • Advanced Tableau features.
  • Sharing the full story: dashboard design principles.

Participants who attend at least 75% of the sessions will obtain a Certificate of Attendance issued by CERGE-EI.

About the facilitator:

Pablo Maldonado
Pablo earned his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the Universite Paris VI - Pierre et Marie Curie in France.  He is currently a data science consultant and lecturer at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Previously, he worked for O2 Czech Republic and PricewaterhouseCoopers as a data scientist, and lectured in two Mexican universities. In his spare time, Pablo enjoys cooking and improving his salsa and drumming skills.
