We encourage students to apply early to confirm placement in
the UPCES study abroad program at CERGE-EI and to allow time for the visa process.

UPCES encourages applications from students with a
demonstrated interest in the liberal arts and who have proven academic
abilities. Personal experiences outside college and future aspirations are also
of high interest to us.
Although a GPA level of 3.0 should serve as a benchmark, the admissions
committee might well decide to accept students with GPAs lower than 3.0 under
certain circumstances.
We require students to have completed at least four semesters of university
level education at the time of application. If there are students from universities which
encourage study abroad before the junior year, these applications may be
considered for admission with a recommendation letter from the home institution.

UPCES considers all applicants on their individual academic merits. In principle, all applications should be made directly to CERGE-EI, although we do suggest that multiple applications from a single university be sent as a "bundle " after passing through an internal screening.
Once the completed applications are received (there is no application fee), they are collected by the UPCES Director Programs and forwarded to the UPCES Academic Advisory Committee, which is appointed annually by the Director of CERGE-EI. This committee strives to make its admission decisions and notify the applicant within a few weeks after the relevant deadline so students have adequate time to prepare for their semester or year-abroad in Prague.
The spring semester will typically run from early February until late May, with a one-week break at Easter, and the Fall semester will run from
early September through mid-December. Please check our academic calendar for the actual dates of each upcoming semester.
